When the tears won't come
That's when you know you've had enough
When the tears won't come
That's when you know something has happened
Good or bad
When the tears won't come
Is when you start to think

It could be something positive that happened
Or it could be something negative that happened
Either way
When the tears won't come
You don't know what to do

But let's focus on the negative this time
That one event
No matter how long it lasted
Caused you so much inner and outer turmoil
That you had to cry to release the stress, pain, and suffering
But it wouldn't come

Despite how hard you want to cry
When the tears don't come
You feel worse yet
But why?

When the tears didn't come
You begin to wonder if it's really all that bad
When the tears never dropped
You wonder if they even have a reason too
But either way
When the tears won't come
You don't know what to do

The tears won't come
The tears didn't come
The tears…stayed put
The closest you came to crying
Was just a watering of the eyes, maybe a drop or two
But that doesn't really count…does it?

When the tears won't come
Think about everything you care and love about
Maybe then, the tears will come out of joy
